The camera got picked up and moved in the middle of the exposure. I like the “cloud city” effect, but it’s too bad it’s so blurry.

This picture just wasn’t as impressive as the rest, and was way too dark for my liking.

Alex and I hiked up to the M tonight with the goal of getting lost. We figured it was a safe place to tramp around in the woods because we could always hike directly downhill and end up at a house or a road or something. Plus, we could see Bozeman from anywhere we were.

We soon found a rocky spine, and ended up on top of this spine just as the sun was setting behind the mountains. The city lights came up and we could see for miles. It was an awe inspiring sight. Lacking a tripod, I braced my camera on some rocks and took some pictures:

I love the sky in this shot, but the hiker’s headlamp wiggling around in the foreground is kinda distracting.

The sunsets here have been absolutely stunning. I think it has to do with so much more sky real estate, or maybe the air is different, or something. Every night I’ve been shocked by how bright and vibrant everything is. I finally got out to try and take pictures tonight, and had limited success. I really needed a blocking cloud right in front of the sun to prevent the picture from being totally blown out, but I think I did ok with what I had.

The focus in the first image, “Horse Barn”, really isn’t what I was hoping for. In fact, it’s not really focused on anything. Still kind of a cool picture though. The horses smell. And as you can see in the second and third images, the center of each is totally blown out by the sun. Not much I can do about that, though, except hope for a blocking cloud.
