There are alot more pictures coming as finals wrap up and I have more and more time to update this site, but I’ll start out with this teaser. Tim and I had the run(s) of our lives at Big Sky over Easter Weekend. We hopped in line for about 15th chair on the Lone Peak Triple. As everyone else headed for the tram, we broke trail across the Turkey traverse and scored three runs of freshies. Waist deep pow down a steep bowl in early April? I’ll take it. Tim snapped this series of pictures of me and I stitched them together into this mosaic. Click here for the full-size version (may take a while to load on a slow connection).

Tucker and I skied Big Sky on Saturday and made all of one run during the three and a half hours we were there. We took lifts to the top of Lone Peak and then skied down the Otter Traverse to the top of the Dictator Chutes. We put tracks down one of these chutes and into the fresh snow below them, down the The Bowl, cat-tracked it to Buffalo Jump, and then down War Dance to the base area. We descended about 4,000 feet on this massive run, and coupled with the altitude and the intensity of the skiing we were both two wiped out to continue.

I shot a panorama from the top of the chute that we skied and have stitched it roughly together below. More photos are to come.

This first week has been pretty good. I could have done without the Lyme Disease/Miniscus Tear (still not sure yet) that resulted in my massively swollen knee and no hiking or biking, but whatever. I’m not gonna complain about a day spent whitewater rafting or lounging around at the Madison River, either. The weather has been awesome, save for the rafting day, when it poured. But hey, we were already gonna get wet, right? We drove up to Bridger Bowl today and I’m really psyched for ski season. I took some pictures of a double rainbow that showed up our first day in Big Sky, and of the Warm Springs Recreation Area on the Madison River, and they appear below.
